Blog DIY – How to Add Hashtags to Your Blog RSS Feed Tweets!

March 1st, 2010

hashtags

Adding hashtags to your tweets can certainly enhance the chances of your tweets being spread further into the Twittersphere.  If you have a blog and you are using tools like TwitterFeed or a wordpress plug-in, chances are that your blog tweets aren’t getting the full hashtag exposure it can have.

Google has introduced a new “Socialize” section along with ability to add hash tags to your blog tweets.  Not only that, there’s an “inline hash tag” mode which will automatically turn important keywords of your blog post title into hashtags.

Plus, Google Feedburner will automatically cut off enough characters so there’s room for retweets.

These simple features make Google Feedburner a great way to get your blog tweets “enhanced” with hashtags.

How to Back Up Your Tweets on Google Calendar!

December 6th, 2009

Twistory, is a new Twitter-app site that lets you back-up your valuable tweets on Google Calendar through Google API.  It’s simple to use and all you have to do is enter your Twitter username to get started.  Of course, if you use your Google Calendar for other purposes, we suggest you to make a new Twitter-backup account for Google Calendar so it stays separate.

I find this the best way to back-up your tweets since Twitter itself doesn’t offer any kind of backups.

Best of all, it’s free so you can lose!

Hackers Send Out Fake Death Tweets!

June 30th, 2009

Hackers have been sending out fake death tweets of famous people like Britney Spears.  Although the matter has been revolved already, (what seems to be caused by TwitPic) it’s interesting to note that Twitter has the power to spread false rumors as much as real ones.

Twitpic fixed this vulnerability by Monday and in an apology letter explained that the hackers tried every PIN combination possible until one worked. Now, Twitpic says a “fix has been put in place to prevent this from happening,” and that less than 10 users were affected by the hack and “no account information was compromised.”

Twitter Hack – How to Make a Twitter TypeWriter!

June 23rd, 2009

For those of you who are tired of watching your 20″ LCD screen for the latest tweets, there’s another way of reading your tweets via a Typewriter!

The folks at Oomlout.co.uk have figured out how to connect an arduino and ethernet module to monitor the search term “Oomlout” and automatically type out the latest tweet relating to that keyword.

It search’s for a term every 10 seconds (in our case ‘oomlout’ although ‘#haiku’ is good fun too). When a new tweet is posted it will proceed to whir to life and type it out (at the same time making us feel like we’re back in the 1970s).

This should be actually a pretty easy project as most typewriters support RS232 communication.  You can also check out their Typewriter Twitter @Oomlout.

Twitter Hack – Office Chair Fart Detector Tweets!

April 26th, 2009

Randy, over at Instructables, have made a cool office chair that will detect when you fart, and of course, tweet that to the whole world.  Cool stuff, I wish there’s a video for it.

See, there’s endless possibilities for Twitter hacks, thus TweetHacking.com was born!

The Twittering office chair “tweets” (posts a Twitter update) upon the detection of natural gas such as that produced by human flatulence. This is part of my commitment to accurately document and share my life as it happens.

Do NOT OPEN StalkDaily Links on Twitter, It’s a worm!

April 11th, 2009

worm

About 3 to 4 hours ago, I started receiving bunch of tweets from numerous other twitters warning about StalkDaily (www.stalkdaily.com DO NOT OPEN!) Worm, and to not click on the link as you will download a worm, which will take over your Twitter account.

Ultimately, the infected computer will relay messages to go to StalkDaily website.  (DO NOT GO!)

It seems that it has pretty much died down now as the Twitter @spam team has acted with countermeasures but you should still be careful and do not visit StalkDaily website until next year! :)   No just kidding, just wait until everything settles down.

This news is so critical that Mashable, ReadWriteWeb, TechCrunch have them on their front page since couple hours ago.

We should figure out who’s really behind this as StalkDaily website owners claim it’s not them, FBI should be contacted shortly.
